That couldn’t happen in the US… the pharmaceutical industry owns congress.

Medical care in China is very affordable. Doctors do not earn nearly as much as they do in America which probably makes them easy targets for bribes, but China is doing the right thing. Too bad our own country cannot learn a lesson here. Too many lobbyist’s here, too little accountability.
I was employed at GSK for 26 years and I absolutely agree. GSK did some contract medicine manufacturing for Astra Zeneca in Upper Merion, Pennsylvania up until about five years ago. The law enforcement in China should be imported into USA because the FDA is hog tied and blind sided by laws and rules that the phamacuetical industry influenced when the laws were being crafted.
It wasn’t too long ago that a large drug company in the US had to pay a huge fine for similar actions. Many questioned then why corporate officials were not charged criminally under RICO statutes.
I am very wary of the Chinese government, but this is one instance in which I would congratulate them. I hope more countries around the world crack down on this kind of corruption.

You can’t even trust that doctors are really prescribing the medicine that you need anymore….. I recently went to the eye doctor and told her that I switched contacts, on my own to Focus brand. She went on a spiel about how Acuvue Oasis were a much better brand and yada yada yada (the brand I switched from). I leave the exam room and begin to notice all of the Acuvue posters up EVERYWHERE… hmmm, no wonder. She probably gets kickback on every pair sold! I will stick with Focus…. MUCH BETTER BRAND!!!!
You are so on the money. I ONLY wear focus night and days. Everytime I go in to get my prescription renewed, they always try to sell me on another brand. Ive been wearing this brand of contacts for about 10 years or so atleast. They are the only lenses that I can wear all day without them fogging up and drying out after 4 hours. The last doctor(?) I went to called my lenses “cadillac” and ridiculously enough, tried to sell me on cheaper lenses!!!! #$%$! Give me what I want!
This is one allegation that come out of China was really true, because it is happening in the Philippines too. A lot of corrupt doctors are receiving free travel expenses going abroad to attend seminars being sponsored by foreign pharmaceutical companies and return for prescribing the medicines that they ( Pharmaceutical Companies ) are selling. It is a plain and simple corruption under the guise of sponsor seminar totally expense free.
I think doctors here get “perks” from salesmen too.

BRAVO for the Chinese government. Someone needs to slap around these drug companies. The politicians in the US are too indebited to them to do it.

You’d be a fool to think that the US medical industry is run on any different a business / bribery model. This isn’t my speculation but first-hand testimony.

I check all the meds I use even the over the counter ones and I will never use any made in China.

Pharmaceutical companies are in the business to make a profit. They don’t want to find a cure for anything! What they really want is for you to take a purple pill everyday for the rest of your life that is outrageously expensive. Gone are the days when people like Jonas Salk found an inexpensive vaccine that actually “cured” a disease. Now they call everything a “chronic” illness. Look at all the TV commercials! Greed!
Grt job china clean up the mess and order firing squads for all involved ,specially the doctors who need a red pack before operating on poor Chinese le time know where I need mail the contribution for the 7,62×25 expenses or if u prefer I happened to have few boxes of it in the garage that I can ship out ,bet I know which hospital in southern Guangdong is I lived in Dongguan again grt job china
doctors don’t come a dime a dozen… they won’t be shooting them.

I thought foreign made drugs were ruled unsafe by the Bush administration?? I guess that was just so individuals could not buy cheaper meds and bring them into the U.S.

This is the real drug mafia at work. Paying doctors to keep people on drugs for life, without ever letting them know of any know alternative methods, or cures. Doctors make me sick! I avoid them like the plague. One has better chances of living longer, not seeing one.
What the Chinese want to regulate-heaven forbid that Big Pharma needs regulations, they are just soooo ethical and not concerned about the bottom line but are concerned with the health and welfare of the word’s population- the U.S. Republicans should be wagging their fingers at China’s prevention of these honest companies trying to earn a profit.
By the tone of the title ‘US Citizen detained as China pharma probe spreads’ you feel like to blame China for detaining Americans. This is how bias corporate owned American media is there to spread bias news and twist the fact to create anti-China sentiment all the time to serve the anti-China agenda to distract the attention to the real bad guys, the American idiots.
Working in medical lab for many years, I know how much blood is needed for each of my medical exam. The labs always draw almost 5 cc more. I know these of my blood would be sold for the lab to get extra profit. This is America.
The US criminal citizens should just conduct their profit driving business in US and take advantage of the Americans instead go to China and make a mess there. Go Chinese government! Stop these idiots from doing illegal activities in China!

You mean US criminals are detained in China. Serve them right!!! Wish they can stop the illegal activities in China. They should just do what they do best, cheating and making profit out of poors in the US.

This is the best news of the 21st century ! These drug thugs have destroyed America. They have covert schemes for every aspect in American society. But, they require a hideous legion of extremely wealthy professional government leaders, together with their obtuse constituents. Thank God that China has not yet gotten to that point.
CHina officials will have to arrest every mid level hospital employee as most take bribes

In the age of omnipresent corporate greed, it really takes an independent and stubborn institution like the Chinese gov to fight with the corporations head on.

I was employed at GSK for 26 years and I absolutely agree with some of the comments published here today. GSK did some contract medicine manufacturing for Astra Zeneca among others in Upper Merion, Pennsylvania up until about five years ago. The law enforcement in China is leading and not following USA practice on this subject and should be applauded. In USA, until after people die or are otherwise injured in large numbers; the FDA is hog tied and blind sided by laws and rules that the phamacuetical industry influenced when the laws and rules were being crafted. And until after people die or are injured, the FDA largely relies upon the alleged honesty of the pharmaceutical company where a question might exsist so much so that there is an after the fact “800 phone number bad drug” if you are injured and happen to still be alive.
Maybe they should look into the fake drugs China sends to the USA. I wonder how many people paid for and got useless medication? How many never recovered from their illness due to the fact that the drug they thought they were taking was garbage? I guess that is of no concern to the Chinese.
Just like its of no concern to the US government, citizens, and tobacco industry to peddle their poisons in 3rd world countries where there are lax laws (since they can no longer do so here at home). The problem is rampant, uncontrolled capitalism, which knows no borders and has no constraints.
